Dear East Fullerton Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our 2012 season! Your Board of Directors is committed to making this a fun-filled and safe experience for the players. I know it will be a great year.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Directors for their leadership and commitment this past year. With their leadership and work of the many volunteers who have continued to give their time for the sole benefit of our children, our league has experienced a great deal of growth. That has translated to more children experiencing the love of baseball within our community.
In the 2011 season, we registered over 300 Little League participants. We look forward to further strengthening our league with increased registration numbers in the upcoming season. In 2011, we fielded 28 teams in 8 divisions. In postseason play, all teams represented our league well in the city tournament. We participated in our second Single-A Tournament with West Fullerton and our Single-A Giants were the tournament Champions. Our 9/10 year old All Star team came in 4th place in the District 56 All Star tournament. The highest any EFLL team had placed in several years.
We had the amazing opportunity to host two player clinics last year. Silver Slugger Matt Nokes hosted our hitting clinic and former World Series Champion Jay Johnstone hosted our fielding clinic. There were as many as 75 players in attendance for the clinics and activities.
In 2012 we will continue to play games at our home field, Chapman Park, at Nicholas Park during our interleague games with West Fullerton, and at the Fullerton Sports Complex. We have continued to work with the city of Fullerton to improve our fields. We will continue the expansion of our league with the Senior Division (14 – 16 year olds).
We raise funds through your support of the snack bars located at Chapman Park and the Fullerton Sports Complex. Our annual fundraiser provides additional support for our league. Sponsorships assist East Fullerton with needed funds while building strong ties within our community. I encourage all of you to seek sponsorships for your teams.
East Fullerton Little League still offers the best sports value for our youth. As a result of increases in the costs of running the league, we are raising early registration fees by $5 and regular registration fees by $10. These additional fees will allow the league to replace some worn equipment as necessary, to offer our coaches training opportunities through Positive Coaching Alliance and Cal State Fullerton Titans and to keep up with the rising costs of running a league. If you take advantage of early registration, you can save $25 per child. I urge you to save money now by registering early. The deadline for early registration is December 10th. You may also register and pay online via our website. We accept checks/money orders (made payable to EFLL) by mail. In addition, we are now able to accept credit cards at the snack shack during our live registrations at Chapman Park. Don’t forget to tell your friends to register!
Our league website is the best source for up-to-date information regarding league activities. The East Fullerton Little League website is www.efll.org. Please check here often for information about registration, teams, weather, and schedule changes.
The Board is asking for your help in letting us know how your experience was with EFLL last season, as well as in the coming year. We will work hard this year to be available for questions and to help settle any issues which may arise during the 2012 season. To leave comments and suggestions, please visit the contact tab of our website.
I strongly urge you all to VOLUNTEER! Our goal is to widely distribute the workload. Involvement enriches your Little League experience. Be part of the East Fullerton Little League success story!
We look forward to seeing you again for our 2012 season!
Janina Samaco
President
